# Read a page

Returns a page's content as Notion-flavored markdown.

`notion-fetch` also reads a database, data source or saved view by its URL or ID.

## Set up

Use the first option your agent supports.

### MCP (official, remote)

Add this server to your agent's MCP settings, then sign in when asked.

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "notion": { "url": "https://mcp.notion.com/mcp" } } }
```

Call the MCP tool `notion-fetch`.

Server URL: https://mcp.notion.com/mcp

### API (official)

- Base URL: https://api.notion.com
- Endpoint: `GET /v1/pages/{page_id}/markdown`
- Auth: send the header `Authorization: Bearer $NOTION_API_KEY`
- Get a key: https://www.notion.so/developers/tokens
- Docs: https://developers.notion.com/reference/intro

Before doing anything else, make one read-only call to confirm access.

## Rules

- Ask the user before anything that sends messages, costs money, or changes data.
- Never print API keys.
