# Add an event for a contact

Records a named event, with optional properties and time, for one audience contact.

The event `name` is 2 to 30 characters, such as `purchased`; `occurred_at`
takes an ISO 8601 time. Events can trigger automations; set `is_syncing` to
`true` when importing ones that shouldn't.

## Set up

Use the first option your agent supports.

- Auth: send the header `Authorization: Bearer $MAILCHIMP_API_KEY`

## Rules

- Ask the user before anything that sends messages, costs money, or changes data.
- Never print API keys.
