# Create a shared link

Creates a shared link to a file or folder, with optional settings for audience, access, downloads, password and expiry.

With no settings the link is public by default, though team and shared-folder settings can change the resolved visibility. Requires the `sharing.write` scope.

## Set up

Use the first option your agent supports.

Before doing anything else, make one read-only call to confirm access.

## Rules

- Ask the user before anything that sends messages, costs money, or changes data.
- Never print API keys.
