# Search companies

Searches Crustdata's company database with structured filters, a natural-language query or both, and returns ranked companies with a cursor for the next page.

Up to 100 results per page. Pages cost credits, so follow `next_cursor`
only as far as you need.

## Set up

Use the first option your agent supports.

### CLI (official)

Install the command, then confirm it runs.

crustdata --version
```

Run `crustdata company search`.

Set `$CRUSTDATA_API_KEY` in your environment first (get a key: https://app.crustdata.com/api-keys).

### API (official)

- Base URL: https://api.crustdata.com
- Endpoint: `POST /company/search`
- Auth: send the header `Authorization: Bearer $CRUSTDATA_API_KEY`

Before doing anything else, make one read-only call to confirm access.

## Rules

- Ask the user before anything that sends messages, costs money, or changes data.
- Never print API keys.
