# Create an audience

Saves a segment of the workspace's own people or companies from a filter, with membership that updates as records change.

Audiences must be enabled for the workspace. The segment can trigger a
Workflow or be referenced in a search to exclude records you already have.

## Set up

Use the first option your agent supports.

### CLI (official)

Install the command, then confirm it runs.

```sh
npm install --global @clay-run/cli
clay --version
```

Run `clay audiences create`.

Before doing anything else, make one read-only call to confirm access.

## Rules

- Ask the user before anything that sends messages, costs money, or changes data.
- Never print API keys.
