# Clay

Go-to-market data platform for finding, enriching and watching people and companies.

Clay is a go-to-market data and automation platform. From the `clay` CLI or
the Public API an agent can search Clay's database of people and companies,
run Clay-managed enrichment functions (work email, phone, firmographics, tech
stack, funding) or a team's own functions, and set up signals that watch for
job changes, hiring and funding news. Tables and custom functions are still
built in the Clay app; the CLI and API run and read them.

## Tools

- tool:clay/create-audience — Create an audience: Saves a segment of the workspace's own people or companies from a filter, with membership that updates as records change.
- tool:clay/create-signal — Create a signal: Creates a signal that watches people or companies and records an event on a job change, promotion, new hire, job posting, funding news or topic intent.
- tool:clay/run-routine — Run a routine: Runs a Clay-managed function such as Work Email or Company Domain, or a team's own function, on 1 to 100 records and returns a run id to poll for results.
- tool:clay/search-people-and-companies — Search people and companies: Starts a search of Clay's database of people or companies from an advanced search query and returns a search id to page through the matches.
