# Apify

Cloud platform and store of ready-made scrapers, called Actors, that turn websites into data.

Apify is a cloud platform for web scraping and automation. Its programs,
called Actors, run in the cloud from JSON input and save their results to
datasets, and Apify Store lists ready-made Actors such as scrapers for Google
Search, Google Maps and Instagram. The MCP server, the `apify` CLI and the
REST API search the Store, run Actors and read their results.

The MCP server signs in with OAuth in the browser, or takes an Apify API token
as a Bearer header. The CLI signs in through Apify Console with `apify login`,
and the API takes the token as a Bearer token. Each Actor sets its own
pricing, such as Apify platform usage, a price per result or a price per
event.

## Tools

- tool:apify/get-dataset-items — Get an Actor run's results: Returns the items an Actor run saved to a dataset, such as scraped records, a page at a time.
- tool:apify/run-actor — Run an Actor: Starts an Apify Actor, such as a Google Maps or search-results scraper, with JSON input and returns the run's status and the ID of the dataset that holds its results.
- tool:apify/search-actors — Find a scraper in Apify Store: Returns Actors from Apify Store, Apify's marketplace of ready-made scrapers and automations, that match a search query, with each Actor's name, author and description.
- tool:apify/search-web — Search the web and read the top results: Starts Apify's RAG Web Browser on a query, or on one URL, and returns the run's storage IDs; its dataset holds the top result pages as Markdown.
